Complete interior design and renovation of a 170 sqm family home, combining functional space planning, custom-designed furniture and a cohesive contemporary interior.
This 170 sqm family house in Sofia was designed as a complete home for a family of four. The project focused on improving the way the existing spaces worked together, creating more openness on the main floor and developing a consistent interior language throughout the house.
The work included space planning, custom furniture, material and lighting decisions, as well as renovation-related changes to the electrical and plumbing installations

The Challenge
A More Functional Home for a Family of Four
The main challenge was to create a more functional and cohesive home for a family with two children, while making better use of the different floors of the house.
On the ground floor, the existing layout separated the kitchen, dining and living areas more than necessary. On the top attic level, there was also an opportunity to improve the organisation of the space around the main bedroom.
The goal was to make the house feel more open, comfortable and intuitive for everyday family life, while allowing each room to retain its own character.
My Solution
On the ground floor, I removed part of the existing partition walls and connected the kitchen, dining and living areas into one open-plan space. This improved circulation between the zones and created a stronger sense of openness.
On the attic level, I also revised part of the layout to make better use of the space around the main bedroom. The implementation included changes to the electrical and plumbing installations, as well as custom-made furniture designed around the specific dimensions and needs of each room.

The changes were not only visual. Reorganising the layout, improving the relationship between the main living zones and adapting the technical installations allowed the available space to work much more effectively.
Explore the Interior
The house was developed as one complete interior concept, while each room was given its own character according to its function and the people who use it. Explore how materials, colour, lighting and custom-designed elements connect the different spaces throughout the home.
Living, Kitchen and Dining Area
After the transformation, the three main zones on the ground floor became one connected open-plan space. Each function remains clearly defined, while materials, colours and lighting visually link the kitchen, dining and living areas into one composition.
Main Bedroom
The main bedroom was designed to feel calmer and more intimate. A neutral palette, natural textures and custom-designed furniture create a comfortable atmosphere without visually overloading the room.
Children’s and Teen Rooms
The children’s rooms were developed around their different ages, routines and needs, giving each space its own identity while maintaining a connection with the overall design language of the house.

Bathrooms
Functionality was the starting point in the bathrooms, but without losing the overall character of the interior. Materials, lighting and details were selected to make the spaces practical for everyday use while remaining visually connected to the rest of the home.
Hallways and Transitional Spaces
The transitional areas were treated as part of the overall concept rather than simply as connections between rooms. Materials and colours continue through these spaces, creating a natural visual flow throughout the house.
The Details That Complete the Interior
The character of an interior is often built through the smaller decisions – the combination of materials, lighting, textiles, furniture and details that connect individual rooms into one complete home.
Furniture Designed for the Space
A large part of the furniture was designed to measure, allowing each piece to make better use of the available space while remaining part of the architecture of the interior.
This was particularly important in more complex areas and on the attic level, where custom solutions made it possible to add practical storage without making the rooms feel visually heavy.
The Result
The result is a functional contemporary family home with more open space and clearly organised areas for the everyday life of a family of four.
The revised layout, custom-designed furniture and consistent attention to materials and details transformed the house into a cohesive interior developed around the way the family lives.
